Ministries

Let's live our faith together!

Our ministries offer opportunities to strengthen our bonds with God and one another while fostering connections via study, friendship, prayer and support.

Children Programs

Youth Group

Our youth group meets monthly for a combination of fun fellowship and a simple gospel message put together by our teen youth group leader.

Sunday School

Each Sunday we provide a program geared toward children. Everyone begins worship together in the sanctuary. A short while into the service, children through 8th grade leave for a program designed specifically for them. We utilize a one room Sunday school model with the Celebrate Wonder curriculum from Cokesbury.  For children under 3, we have a nursery/playroom where children are safe and cared for while learning simple Bible stories.

Vacation Bible School

Each July, Wading River Congregational Church provides a week of Vacation Bible School for our church and broader community. The program runs in the evenings Monday through Friday from 6:00 to 8:45 pm.

Kids experience the love of Jesus and simple Bible messages through high energy songs, games, hands on maker station like activities, participatory drama and short videos of kids around the world sharing stories of their lives consistent with the messages.

Our goal each year is to demonstrate God’s love in action in ways that are engaging and fun for kids, but in doing so we see the lives of all involved changed in special ways.

All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children

Men's Ministry

WRCC maintains a thriving men’s ministry to aid men in navigating the world around them. Apart from monthly meetings over breakfast, the men of WRCC participate in activities, study the Bible, and engage in work projects around the church and in the homes of those who need us.

Women's Ministry

WRCC has active women’s ministry programs that intermingle with our other church activities. An annual spring women’s retreat and a weekly prayer group/Bible Study are the foundation of a growing group of women that walk with each other and the Lord through life’s joys and challenges.

Senior's Ministry

Each month our seniors gather for the Senior's Luncheon on the 2nd Thursday of each month. All senior adults are invited to join us for lunch, fellowship, and a time singing hymns or sharing devotions. For more information or to register for the next luncheon please contact the church office (631-929-8849). (Registrations needed by the Friday preceding the luncheon.) Seniors Support: We're always looking for ways to help and serve our seniors. If you're looking for support with transportation to church or for errands around town, or if there are other ways we can help, please contact the church.

Bible Studies

WRCC Bible Study Groups meet regularly in small groups to build friendships and grow our faith together. Sometimes they also share a meal or connect for additional fellowship times. Consider giving one a try. There are multiple groups that meet at different places and different times.

Mondays at 6:00 pm | Study for women. Hosted by Julie Lutz at the church. Includes dinner.

Tuesdays at 10:00 am | Study for men & women. Hosted by Dottie Davis in Wading River. Refreshments are included.

Wednesdays at 7:00 pm | Study for men & women. Hosted by the pastor at the church. Refreshments are included.

Fiber Fellowship

This fun ministry is facilitated by creative women but open to all who are willing to learn and enjoy laughter and fellowship. Meetings are Tuesday mornings at the church. Crafts and projects of all types are created and then donated to ministries both locally and around the globe. Materials and ideas are provided.

Community Outreach

Our Community Outreach program provides information and connections to local ministries who need hands-on support. This provides an avenue for people to step out beyond the church as a building and become God’s very real hands in action to individuals in our own and surrounding communities. All are welcome. No experience is necessary.

GriefShare

The loss of a loved one can be devastating, but there’s help to be found. Join us for GriefShare.

GriefShare is a special weekly seminar and support group designed to help you rebuild your life. We know it hurts, and we want to help.

Each week we view a video seminar that provides real guidance on processing grief from trained counselors, pastors, and people just like you who have experienced the loss of a spouse, sibling, or child first-hand. Then we take to discuss what we’ve learned and how it can, as well as resources to help throughout the week. This group will provide real help and guidance for finding hope in grief.

If you’re struggling with grief, whether due to a recent loss or something from your past, come and join us.  Each session is 13 weeks, but you are welcome to come at any point in the session for as many or as few as you are able. There’s no cost.

GriefShare sessions run throughout most of the year. To find the current schedule, please contact the church at 631-929-8849.
